Wolverhampton Wanderers aiming for a top 10 finish – Ryan Bennett

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ryan Bennett has indicated that the club are aiming to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League during the ongoing campaign. The west Midlands outfit had recently gone through six matches without a victory but they managed to make amends with a stunning 2-1 comeback triumph over Chelsea.

Speaking after the game, Bennett highlighted that the club are aiming to finish in the top half of the Premier League standings but admits they are likely to experience a tough ride towards achieving the target, he told TalkSPORT: “We'll be trying to achieve that top 10 finish but we'll see what happens. To finish in the top half in your first season is tough. A lot of people outside the club have been saying that's where we should be, but we know within the squad how hard it's going to be. You look at the dip we just had and it makes you realise how hard it is in this league. We knew it was going to be hard coming into the season.”

“Nuno Espirito’s side were hugely impressive during the opening stages of the campaign “and they reached their highest position of seventh before the October international break. However, they have since struggled with just one win from seven league games and “what has been more “ surprising has been the fact that they have struggled against the mid-table clubs.

Wolves have managed to secure points against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United this campaign and this has earned them plenty of plaudits. However, the same team has been outclassed by struggling Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town and this has presented question marks regarding their motivation against clubs, where they are being fancied to come up with the points. Wolves are scheduled to face Newcastle United on the road during the weekend’s league game.
