WOLVES BOSS TO MISS CHELSEA GAME

Wolves manager Bruno Lage will miss the Premier League trip to Chelsea on Saturday after testing positive to Covid-19. The former Benfica man will miss the game at Stamford Bridge this weekend, but he should be back in the dugout for the visit of defending champions Manchester City to the Molineux on Wednesday night in a rescheduled Premier League clash.

Bruno Lage was absent for the Wolves pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the Chelsea game with goalkeeping coach Toby Roberts replacing him. Roberts told reporters that Bruno Lage has no Covid-19 symptoms and that the Portuguese tactician is still directing affairs and organising his team from a distance.

Wolves need to arrest their recent poor form if they want to play European football next season. They are in eighth spot on the Premier League log at the moment and just three points behind West Ham United in seventh spot. Seventh position will guarantee European football though it would be in the less fancied UEFA Europa Conference League.
Ahead of the Chelsea game, Wolves have lost seven of their last ten games in the Premier League including the last three games. The emphatic 3-0 defeat at the hands of visitors Brighton and Hove Albion made it three successive league defeats with the likes of Argentine international midfielder Alexis Mac Allister (spot kick), Leandro Trossard and Yves Bissouma getting on the scoresheet for the away team.
The latest poor run of form spanning the last three league matches started on the back of the 2-1 home win over Aston Villa in the Midlands Derby. The three-match losing run began with the 1-0 loss at the home of in-form Newcastle United with Chris Wood getting the only goal of the game from the spot in the second half. Czech striker MatejVydra then scored the only goal in the second half to give Burnley a 1-0 home win over Wolves thus making it two straight defeats. The Brighton game made it three straight defeats in the league for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
