John Ruddy prepared to compete for number one role at Wolverhampton

United States international John Ruddy has stressed that he won’t hand the number one role to summer signing Rui Patricio without a fight. The 31-year-old was named in the Championship Team of the Year last term after keeping 24 clean sheets for the Wolves in 45 appearances and he is now prepared to fight for the starting position alongside Patricio.

Speaking to The Express and Star, he said: “It is what it is. Just because they've brought a goalkeeper in doesn't mean it's the end of me. I've come to this club with an ambition to get promoted last season and my ambition was to play in the Premier League. We're very close to that. As long as the other goalkeeper's coming in with the same desire and attitude that I've got then it can only be good for the club. I'm looking forward to the challenge.”

Ruben Neves Content At Wolverhampton Wanderers

Portugal international Ruben Neves has stressed that he is content to stay on with Wolverhampton Wanderers, who will be plying their trade in the Premier League next season. The 21-year-old joined the Wolves from Porto for a Championship record fee last summer and he was thereafter instrumental towards the club’s return to the top-flight.

Bookmakers expect Wolves to move for Liverpool striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers secured their return to the English Premier League with an impressive Championship title this season, posting final stats of 30 wins, nine draws and seven defeats.

A stunning campaign for all connected to the Molineux club but failure to win any of their last two league matches – a goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday and a surprise 3-0 defeat to Sunderland – meant they just missed out on the magic 100 points mark, ending with 99 on the board.

Ruben Neves Want Wolves To Finish The Job

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves believes Wolverhampton Wanderers should now finish the job of attaining automatic promotion after claiming back-to-back wins over Reading and Burton Albion. The west Midlands outfit had suffered a minor setback prior to the victories, but they have steadied the ship once more, with a 13-point lead over third-placed Aston Villa.

Speaking after the Burton triumph, Neves stressed that the Wolves are focused on their job at hand as they seek to end their six-year wait for Premier League promotion, he said: "It was a very good win for us. We know Burton came to Molineux to win points, they need points, but we did a very good job. It was really cold but the team are focused and the weather doesn't matter for us – we just play. Fortunately, we can play good and win the game on Saturday. We are focused on our game. We had some bad results before but we bounced back really good. We showed we're focused on our Championship.”
